The Literary Club of the Asiatic Society of Mumbai is delighted to invite you to a talk on the recently published book “Women in State Politics in India Missing in the Corridors of Power” by the editors – Prof. Pam Rajput and Prof. Usha Thakkar on Wednesday 30th August at 5 p.m.

This book is one of the first to explore the participation of women in state politics in India and how women navigate the dynamic spaces and hierarchies of the Indian political system. It analyses the gender profile of political parties and legislative bodies in 16 states in India.

Topical, rich in empirical data, the book is an essential read for scholars and researchers of Indian politics, gender studies, political science, sociology, public administration and South Asian studies.

Prof. Pam Rajput is Professor Emeritus of Political Science at Punjab University and Founder Director of the Centre for Women’s Studies and Development, Chandigarh.

Prof. Usha Thakkar is President of the Mani Bhavan Gandhi Sangrahalaya, Mumbai. She retired as Professor and Head of the Department of Political Science, SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai. Prof. Usha Thakkar is an Honorary Fellow of the Asiatic Society of Mumbai
