CENTRE FOR LABOUR STUDIES
The Asiatic Society of Mumbai has established a Centre for Labour Studies with the funds collected by friends to perpetuate the memory of four trade union leaders –Shri V.N. Sane, Shri K.P. Sachindranath, Shri A.D. Shastri and Shri Manharlal Mehta. The Centre awards annually a Junior Research Fellowship on Labour issues, and holds lectures, seminars and discussions on issues pertaining to Labour.

Mumbai (Bombay), the city of dreams, has been a culturally vibrant and economically thriving city since the late seventeenth century. Dramatic increase in its population and area, every few years resulted in diverse transport systems being commissioned by the state, and which have since proven to be the saving grace in enhancing the internal and external connectivity of the city. This series will take the participants on an enriching journey into the history of various transport systems.
